Strong Analytics partnered with a global top-5 automotive company to help shape the future of the commercial transportation and invent the next generation of delivery vehicles using computer vision and artificial intelligence. Their goal was to leverage AI to increase operational efficiency through augmenting – not replacing – drivers' workflows with seamless automation.

Our Solution

In-vehicle sensors
Multiple in-vehicle sensors and cameras are utilized to detect and track the positions and identities of parcels throughout the vehicle

Strong’s expertise in computer vision and deep learning allowed us to rapidly develop key proofs of concept to demonstrate the potential impact of this technology in the industry.

From there, Strong developed a platform comprised of multiple proprietary algorithms to detect, identify, and track parcels throughout the vehicle in real-time. Strong collaborated to integrate this suite of algorithms into a complete hardware system and deploy them on embedded devices, enabling on-vehicle intelligence.

The platform, which debuted at a large international auto show in 2018 leverages artificial intelligence for several key features including:

  • Automatic parcel scanning, which identifies and decodes parcel barcodes as a courier enters the vehicle
  • Multiple in-vehicle sensors and cameras which are utilized to detect and track the positions and identities of parcels throughout the vehicle, providing a complete view of the cargo space for both couriers and fleet managers
  • Smart shelves which utilize LEDs to direct the courier to the correct package at the correct delivery location, eliminating wasted time searching through the cargo space for items
